Upcoming road work and traffic impacts in Sedro-Woolley

(SEDRO-WOOLLEY)- There will be temporary traffic impacts for pavement grinding on N Reed Street and Portobello Avenue in Sedro-Woolley during the week of July 15th.

The 2024 Pavement and Pedestrian Improvements Project consists of preparing N Reed Street between SR 20 and Sapp Road for a full width asphalt overlay and preparing Portobello Avenue for a full width asphalt overlay between N Fruitdale Road and East Gateway Heights Loop, according to a news release from the city. The preparation work on both roads will include grinding the existing asphalt along the curb lines before placing a 2-inch lift of asphalt.

N Reed Street and Portobello Avenue will be open to at least one lane of traffic at all times during working hours. There will be access delays during the grinding operations. These delays will be kept to a minimum as much as possible and we will work with you to ensure you are able to get in or out when you need to.

The pavement grinding work will impact parking along N Reed Street. In order to perform the grinding work along curbs and the final overlay paving, it will be necessary to have all vehicles cleared from the street while these operations take place.

The grinding work will be done before the paving and is anticipated to take only a day for each road. The final paving may take a couple of days as well. We do not yet have firm dates for the paving.

The pavement grinding work is scheduled for July 15th and 16th.
