Skagit County Fair back in action this summer
(SKAGIT COUNTY)- According to a press release for Skagit County, plans are well underway to welcome everyone back to Come, Sit, Stay & Play for a Howlin’ Good Time at the Skagit County Fair, August 11-14. After a very challenging past 14 months, the Fair is looking forward to welcoming the community back this summer.
“We’ve sorely missed putting on events for our community and are looking forward to getting back on the horse and welcoming back our fans for a festive, howlin’ good time this summer,” said Skagit County Fair Manager Aric Gaither. “We’ve been so pleased how our facility has been used during this crisis as a part of the solution, and ecstatic that we can continue being part of the solution by giving people that outlet they’ve been missing”.
Plans are to have most of the traditional elements of the Fair in place when they swing the gates open on August 11 including a carnival, livestock, vendor booths, live entertainment and much more. Plans include new elements/entertainment pieces as well as some exhibits/activities that will take a year off with plans to return in 2022. While the Fair is aiming to provide a mostly traditional experience, safety protocol will be at the forefront of every decision, and the Fair will follow all COVID guidance set forth.
“As we emerge from our ‘COVID caverns’, there is a renewed demand to celebrate the flavors and festivities of Skagit County,” said Skagit County Parks & Rec Director Brian Adams. “The 2021 Fair will provide the venue for reconnecting you to the entertainment we have yearned and fun we all crave. Join us as we welcome a new dawn to celebrate farms, food, family and performers.”
“I’m personally looking forward to seeing all the family fun at the fair again this year, and getting to see all the hard work Skagit's FFA and 4H kids have put in this year,” said Commissioner Janicki, who currently serves as Chair of the Board. “Come have a ‘howlin’ good time’ with us, and celebrate all the things that make Skagit great.”
