Three nights of rolling slowdowns on I-5 in Mount Vernon begin March 14

(MOUNT VERNON)– Beginning Tuesday, March 14 through Thursday, March 16, from midnight to 4 a.m. nightly, there will be rolling slowdowns of up to 10 minutes across all lanes of northbound and southbound Interstate 5 between Bow Hill (milepost 236) and Anderson Road (milepost 225) in Mount Vernon.

These slowdowns will allow Puget Sound Energy (PSE) to perform critical infrastructure work across I-5, according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transporation. In addition to these traffic holds, the on-ramps will be closed and will reopen as PSE moves along this 9-mile stretch of highway. Washington State Patrol will be on scene to support this activity.

Travelers should anticipate nightly delays during the time work is permitted and either take alternate routes or add extra time to their travel plans.
