Three overlapping I-5 projects bring multiple lane reductions between Everett and Marysville

(EVERETT)– Drivers planning to use Interstate 5 between Everett and Marysville can expect multiple overnight lane reductions through March 30 as Washington State Department of Transportation contractor crews work on three adjoining projects.

Starting as soon as Sunday, March 12, and continuing through Thursday, March 30, nightly lane reductions will be in effect from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to a news release from WSDOT. All lanes are scheduled to be open Friday and Saturday nights.

The contractors are coordinating lane closures to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible, but people should expect some delays through the extended work zone and drive attentively.

The projects include:

- Northbound I-5 between 41st Street and Snohomish River: Pavement and expansion joint repairs and pavement grinding for continuing rehabilitation and preservation.
- Between Marine View Drive and State Route 529, northbound and southbound I-5: Shoulder repaving and median barrier placement for northbound I-5 to SR 529 corridor improvements.
- Northbound I-5 at 12th Street Northeast: Complete repairs of the 12th Street Northeast overpass.

The work is weather dependent.
