Police conducted searches related to a prostitution investigation

(MOUNT VERNON)- Mount Vernon police along with the FBI and members of the Skagit County Interlocal Drug Enforcement Unit (SCIDEU), served search warrants at two massage parlors on Riverside Drive in Mount Vernon Wednesday morning.

The investigation started several weeks ago, after receiving tip information regarding suspicious activity and foot traffic occurring at both the Tulip Spa (2500 Block Riverside Drive) and I Spa (1700 Block Riverside Drive). Information obtained while conducting surveillance and through covert contacts with the businesses, led investigators to secure search warrants for both locations looking for additional evidence for the crime of Promoting Prostitution.

During the searches, detectives seized business records, cash and transaction receipt information, and several spa employees were interviewed. Investigators plan to make additional contacts based on the customer records obtained.

The City of Mount Vernon is reviewing the case for possible business license revocation.
