Public invited to provide feedback on Camano Island/Stanwood SR 532 paving scheduled in 2028

(STANWOOD)– People are invited to learn more about paving work on State Route 532 on Camano Island and in Stanwood and provide feedback through a questionnaire on how they use these stretches of road, according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation.

In 2028, crews working for WSDOT will repave and repaint two segments of SR 532:

- On Camano Island, WSDOT will pave 2.6 miles of SR 532 in both directions from North Sunrise Blvd. to just east of Smith Road between mileposts 0.0 and 2.6.
- In Stanwood, WSDOT will pave 2.5 miles of SR 532 in both directions from 270th Street SW to just east of 72nd Avenue NW between mileposts 3.4 and 6.0.

Gathering the public’s input will better inform WSDOT of how travelers make the most use of SR 532 in the area. Everyone is encouraged to participate, including people walking, biking, rolling and accessing transit.

The questionnaire is available for people to leave comments and share information on how they use the road until Friday, Oct. 2.

For each project, crews will repair and preserve the existing roadway surface, update the roadway striping, and evaluate curb ramps to determine if they meet current ADA accessibility requirements.

These projects are subject to WSDOT’s Complete Streets requirements. WSDOT will incorporate active transportation facilities as feasible within the project delivery timelines and budget.

Both projects are scheduled for construction in 2028.
