Secretary Hobbs encourages Washingtonians to participate in National Voter Registration Day

(OLYMPIA)— Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs and the Office of the Secretary of State encourage Washingtonians to participate in National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

NVRD is a nationwide observance that serves as a reminder for eligible individuals to register to vote ahead of the Nov. 4 General Election, according to a news release from the Office of the Secretary of State.

Secretary Hobbs will be observing the occasion by meeting with students at Washington State University in Pullman. Connecting with younger voters and supporting civic engagement is a critical component in promoting lifelong voting habits.

“Registering to vote is an important step toward being civically engaged with your community,” said Secretary Hobbs. “Your vote matters in every election, especially when local measures and candidates are on the ballot, so go vote and make your mark.”

Eligible Washingtonians have multiple options when registering to vote. Voter registration is available online at VoteWA.gov, in-person by completing a registration form at a county elections office, or by mailing a completed voter registration form to a county elections office. The deadline for registering to vote online or by mail is Monday, Oct. 27, for the November General Election. If eligible individuals miss the online and mail-in deadline, they can still register to vote up until 8 p.m. on Election Day by visiting a county elections office.
