Northwest Forest Plan Federal Advisory Committee’s next meeting April 16-18 in Weaverville, California

(PORTLAND)- The Northwest Forest Plan Area Federal Advisory Committee (FAC) will meet April 16-18 at the Redding Rancheria Trinity Health Center, 81 Arbuckle Court, Weaverville, California. This will be the fourth meeting for the Federal Advisory Committee to provide the Forest Service with recommended updates for the Northwest Forest Plan Amendment, according to a news release from the Forest Service.   The Secretary of Agriculture established this committee to support ongoing efforts to amend the Northwest Forest Plan. Guemes Island Ferry to transition to electronic ticketing system

(SKAGIT COUNTY)- Skagit County has announced the launch of a new electronic ferry ticketing system provided by Anchor Operating Systems. Anchor has experience working with premiere ferry systems to provide mobile ticketing systems across the country including Pierce County Ferries, San Francisco Bay Ferry, NYC Ferry, Fisher Island Ferry, and many more, according to a news release from the county. Starting June 6, 2024, residents will have the convenience of pre-purchasing ferry tickets on Skagit County’s website using Anchor’s user-friendly and mobile-ready platform. Upon purchase of your ticket(s), you will receive a QR code to simplify boarding procedures.     (read more)

Studded tire removal deadline is March 31

(OLYMPIA)– Springtime in the Pacific Northwest often signals blooming flowers and warmer days ahead. It also means Washington’s deadline to remove studded tires is fast approaching. Studded tires must be removed by the end of the day Sunday, March 31, to avoid a potential fine of $137, according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation. The removal date falls on a holiday this year which could mean some shops are closed, so WSDOT urges travelers to plan ahead now. Studded tires are legal in Washington from Nov. 1 to March 31. Commissioners to host public hearing on agricultural event venue moratorium

(SKAGIT COUNTY)- The Skagit County Commissioners will host a post-adoption hearing regarding Ordinance #20240001 at 11:30 a.m. on Monday March 25, 2024. The Ordinance imposed a temporary moratorium on events and certain other activities on lands zoned Agriculture-Natural Resources (Ag-NRL). The purpose of the hearing is to take public comment regarding the moratorium, existing business activities and enforcement, and the Administrative Official Interpretation directed by the Ordinance. The Board will not consider comments regarding a permanent ordinance applicable to new business activity, which will be discussed at a later date, according to a news release from the county. California, Québec and Washington agree to explore linkage
